Radhanath Swami’s Radhagopinath Ashram – Celibacy and Bhakti Yoga
Welcome! Here we have celibate monks practicing Bhakti Yoga candidly sharing juicy tidbits from ashram life. These are monks of Radhagopinath Ashram, a monastery in downtown Mumbai established by Radhanath Swami in 1986 (that was the year Radhanath Swami arrived in this metropolis to share Bhakti Yoga with Mumbai-ites). Along with Radhagopinath Temple, Radhanath Swami had started this Ashram, a sanctuary for selfless souls dedicated to the betterment of humanity.
Monks at Radhanath Swami’s Radhagopinath Ashram sleep on the floor as monks generally do, and don’t hold bank accounts as monks generally don’t. But what makes them a class apart is the luxurious living they have forsaken for the bare ashram rooms, and the fat salaries they have renounced for washing pots in the ashram kitchen. There are 185 monks in all, and that includes 10 MBAs, 11 IITians, and 14 doctors.
